Community Health Systems Mental Health Technician-FT-Night Shift in VICKSBURG, Mississippi

Description

The Mental Health Technician functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assess the functional abilities, impairments, and needs of each patient and address these individually and through psycho-education groups. The Mental Health Technician leads daily educational groups focused on essential skills patients need to manage their illness as well as their social environment. The Technician documents patient participation, progress and changes in condition, contributes to the formulation of individualized plans of treatment, and performs regular assessment of patient progress to ensure maximum therapeutic benefit. Assists in chart maintenance, environment of care, patient care and transportation as needed. Works under the direction of licensed nursing staff.

One (1) year experience working with psychiatric or emotionally disturbed patients in an acute healthcare setting is strongly preferred. The Mental Health Technician understands empathy, patience and persistence with the patient population of the Behavioral Health Care Program. Knowledge of human behavior, symptoms of mental illness and appropriate therapeutic interventions, de-escalation and management strategies, group dynamics and stress management techniques are required.

BLS and CPI certification is required (or within 30 days of hire into the department).
